Priority on People “POP”
POP signifies that whenever an issue arises before the City Council, I will consider whether it benefits the residents of District 4. I will evaluate if the action causes no harm, is advantageous to District 4, or requires further work to make it beneficial. The interests of District 4 will always be my priority. Fiscal Responsibility
Growth, when pursued without thoughtful planning, risks undermining the very identity of our city—a place celebrated for its "Natural Charm." While some argue that growth cannot be restricted, I believe we must innovate and adopt solutions that align with our values. For instance, a housing ordinance could be implemented requiring all new developments to adhere to a "one home per acre" standard. This approach would reduce density and preserve the city's character, ensuring that our growth remains harmonious with the charm we hold dear. Sensible Growth
Sensible Growth
The City has a 31-million-dollar budget, but it only generates 11 million-dollars in tax revenue. A few years ago, the city agreed to purchase a new fire truck and allocated funds for this purpose through the City Council. However, now that the fire truck is here, the funds are no longer available. It appears that the City has an open budget and has reallocated the money to another project. This raises questions about Financial Responsibility.
Technical Oversight
The City engaged a contractor to repair and/or upgrade the water culverts along a section of Route 19. Unfortunately, the contractor installed the project in an incorrect location, necessitating rehiring them to complete the work in the proper area, resulting in double payment for this project. There was no Technical Oversight.
Additionally, the City installed new curbs and sidewalks along RT 50 in the downtown area but failed to consider drainage requirements. Consequently, it is now necessary to remove and reinstall these installations. There was no Technical Oversight.
